WELCOME TO CREATOR ESSENTIALS

On my Instagram, I sprinkle in tips and creator tidbits that will help grow your IG acct. and content.

What the heck is a flat lay & how can I make it Pinterest worthy?!

✨FLAY: A flat lay (or /fiˈlā/ as I like to call it) is a pic taken directly above and arranged strategically on a flat surface. It’s all about the visual appeal, which is why it’s one of my favorites to create.

✨PLACEMENT: When it comes to flat lay, it’s all about placement. Too many things can overcrowd an image and make it look scattered, too few things can make it appear to be lacking. So, placement and detail definitely come into play.

✨LIGHTING: Lighting is important! Natural lighting is ALWAYS the best! Aiming for photos that are light and airy are always favs.

✨BACKGROUND: Background is important! I always recommend choosing a solid color. Patterns can take away and overstimulate an image. Choose a color that represents your IG feed (ie. pink or white for me). If you are minimal, I recommend white, or you have a specific color, stick to that and if your feed is colorful, choose different colors that match your theme for that month.

✨SETTING: It doesn’t matter what your surroundings look like, it doesn’t take much to artistically use the things around you to create a cool flat lay pic, even if you are out in public! I definitely recommend using Pinterest as a resource for inspo to get those creative juices flowing.

✨EDITING: When editing your final favs, don’t go too hard on the editing. It’s not supposed to be a harsh look.

In the next creator station, I will show you how I edit my photos!

NOW that was A LOT, but I could say so much more!

How I Edit My Photos to Look Professional!

🗓 Every OTHER Wednesday I am going to be sharing some creator tidbits that will help your IG acct. ⁣⁣⁣
..⁣⁣⁣
✨TAKING PHOTOS ON PHONE: Always make sure that your lighting is good! You don’t want any bad lighting or blurry pictures because it makes it harder to edit and achieve a quality photo! I prefer just the regular photo setting because it evenly distributes the light and makes it easier to edit. But if you must, don’t overdo it on portrait mode.⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨VASCO: This is hands down my favorite editing app! Easy to use, especially for beginners. I bought the year plan, however, they have some good filters, even with the free version! If you don’t like VSCO, another good app is Lightroom.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
✨PLANOLY: Planoly helps me physically see all of my planned content. You can schedule your content post and it can automatically upload content for you! Love this feature especially if I’m busy at work or I’m taking a break from my socials! ⁣⁣
